Ravenlordess is the first (and only :) Turrican-cosplayer I heard of and also does some other fantastic Commodore-computer/-80s related cosplay.

A while ago, which I wanted for years, I asked Ravenlordess if I may archive some of her pictures here on Turrican SETA. Here a shortened excerpt of our chat, date 01.01.2022:

t.r.schmidt
Uh, btw., would you like a subpage at Turrican SETA with some of your Turrican-cosplay-pictures?

Ravenlordess
Oh wow, certainly! Thanks for asking :)

t.r.schmidt
I wanted to ask that for quite a while, but never found the time ;) Really great work! :)

Ravenlordess
Better late than never, as they say. I'd be honored!

t.r.schmidt
....
According to facebook your from finland, but living in germany? How cool ist that :)

Ravenlordess
...
What would you/they like to know? Yes that's true, I've lived in Germany for 4 years now Actually it's all thanks to Turrican and more specifically Chris Huelsbeck

t.r.schmidt
how that? :)

Ravenlordess
I got to know my partner (with whom I now live in Germany) in the "Retro Spielen mit Chris & Audi" twitch show back when it was still a thing. I started watching those shows after having met Chris at Gamescom while wearing my first Turrican suit. Met some cool new people in the chat and one thing led to another over time. So I can say that Chris and Turrican literally changed my life, indirectly perhaps but still :)

t.r.schmidt
always interesting how the things you do shape your life ;D

Ravenlordess
Indeed

t.r.schmidt
and how did you get in touch with Turrican in first place? I didn't know the Commodore-stuff was popular in finland and you seem quite young? :)
...

Ravenlordess
I'm indeed a bit younger than your average Turrican/retro fan. We had an Amiga 500 with Turrican 1 & 2 (among other games) when I was a kid in the early '90s. I don't know how popular the computers were back in the day but I guess there must have been quite a few of them, seeing as how strong the Finnish demo scene is these days. I became an Amiga fan in my early twenties mostly because I was (and am) into game soundtracks, and the Turrican music in particular is of course something that you just don't forget even in a decade or two. From there it all just progressed on its own, especially when I started cosplaying.

t.r.schmidt
Yes, I guess the music is what puts the magic in it. How did you develop the skills to craft such complex custumes?

Ravenlordess
I've always been crafting and making things. I think it's just the accumulated amount of practice, plus the fact that I love learning new techniques. A complex costume takes quite a bit of planning though, so it helps if you're well-organized.

Ravenlordess
What you can't tell from the photos and what some people probably still don't know is that both suits played Turrican music :)

t.r.schmidt
wait, what? :) is there a video of that? What a brilliant idea!

Ravenlordess
They both had a built-in speaker in one of those chest cannon tube thingies. It was very important for me to have the suits play the music, in fact the tribute to Chris and his work was the reason I chose to cosplay Turrican in the first place. He seemed quite excited about that when we met the first time :) The second suit's gun also played sound effects. I have a video of that but none of the music itself.

t.r.schmidt
i can imagine that ;D

Ravenlordess
The sad part is that you couldn't really hear either at Gamescom because it's such a loud environment. Still, I'm considering adding the music to the 3rd suit too.

t.r.schmidt
which tunes did it play? and, btw. did you ever think of reanacting the Turrican 2 cover? :)

Ravenlordess
It had the whole soundtrack of Turrican 1-3 from the Amiga, plus the whole Turrican Soundtrack Anthology. A tiny mp3 player was hidden in the gauntlet. Interesting idea, I'll have to keep that in mind (:

t.r.schmidt
I didn't read about the third suit yet, what will be different?

Ravenlordess
Basically I want to make everything better :) I've been adjusting the design and also want to improve the crafting quality and use more ideal materials. The main issue was that I ran out of time with both suits because of the Gamescom deadline. I had to rush the crafting process and cut corners just to get them done in time. Both times the final touches were added when I was already at my hotel in Cologne. Even though the 2nd suit was much better than the 1st, I wasn't all that happy with it either because I didn't have the time to make it as good as I wanted to. So pretty much ever since my plan and dream project has been to make a 3rd, perfect suit one day.
