Happy Christmas!
Merry Christmas to all of you :)

As a little gift, a Turrican CD containing 23 Music-Tracks of Turrican 1-3 as mp3s is now available for download. I call it Turrican Evolution and itīs especially meant to burn it on CD or for your MP3-player.
Of course thats the original Amiga-TFMX-sound recorded in good qualtity, not the commercial remake.
Get it at http://www.nemmelheim.de/ftp/ (then -->Turrican-->Turrican CD) or turrican_evolution_cd_nemmelheim.rar with Overnet.

Turrican for GBA? Official Turricans?
You surely all know Rainbow Arts. Rainbow Arts once joined Softgold, and they joined THQ. So, THQ now owns the rights for Turrican.
I asked Rüdiger Moersch, PR-Manager of THQ Entertainment a few questions:

Will there maybe be a GBA port of Turrican?
Thereīs nothing planned at this time.

Since many games get "recycled" these days (e.g. Gods of Bitmap Brothers), wouldnīt that be a good opportunity for a portable version?
Surely this would be a possibility, but since as well economic as license-rightly interests have to be considered, it isnīt quite as easy as you maybe imagine.

Since Turrican 3d will no be released - can the Fan-community expect a new turrican title in not-too-distant time?
Everybody is wondering why a name this populars stays unused for so long.
Out of various reasons.

A new vote, this time multiple votes are allowed and you may suggest other games.

News from Turricane 4 ever:
Now they are working at a demo version - and they finally found a pixel-artist.
More infos on their homepage!
04.12.02
Finally I got a preview-version of Martin Konradīs GameGearTurrican. It plays very smooth, and is a good mixture between Turrican 1 & 2. It features the full Turrican 2 weaponry (Powerline, Wheel, Mines, Bounce, Multiple and Laser). The graphics are quite simple but done with much detail, especially if you compare it to other 8 bit-systems.

I especially like that the collision is very exact and it controls and moves exactly like Turrican. So, since gamboy Turrican is much worse playable than GGTurrican, itīll be the best portable Turrican available!

Some people wondered why Martin developed it for Gamegear and didnīt prefer a modern system like GBA instead. This has various reasons, some of them are: he simply wanted to do a Gamegear-game, there is no Turrican for Gamegear available and he didnīt find anyone whoīd pixel graphics for a GBA-Version.

It is possible to transfer the game to a (flash-)cartridge to play it on a real Gamegear - Iīll report how this can be done soon.

For your pleasure, get 15 Screenshots (scaled x2) here.

Some facts about Thornado (Factor 5īs unofficial Turrican-Sequel): Regarding to Julian Eggebrecht (chatlog 05/2002) of Factor 5, they already invested a lot of time and graphics, but itīs layed on ice.
But they still want to do it in any case. So - itīs at least not dead.

I found (and scanned) an article about Manfred Trenz and how he came to creating Turrican in an old ASM-Maganzine.
Take a close look at the picture, Iīm really curious whatīs inside Manfredīs Turrican 1 File...

Also added two new facts about Turrican (at the bottom).

Again, the vote reached the magic 100, this time Iīm a little amazed about the results.

The question was: Would you prefer a 2d or 3d Turrican?
2d  79%
3d  7%
donīt matter   14%

To be more representative, this time I asked around in several boards a bit (including ones like giga.de) which donīt only have Turrican-Freaks or Retrogamers. I even asked some younger gamers, which surprisingly had the same opinion.
BUT: most would prefer backgrounds with 3d-Elements (like Duke Nukem Manhattan Project or Pandemodium).
Here some links to the interesting discussions: GAEB   Retrozone

A new vote will come next week, mail good ideas to me.

Good news from Pekaro:
Chris Huelsbeck allowed them to use the (TFMX-)Turrican-Soundtrack.
Additionally, there will be a cool option in their T2002:
you can use the Turrican-Soundtrack-CD for ingame-music!!
So, if you havenīt already got it, buy it at synsoniq, before itīs to late ;) (Synsoniq is Chris Huelsbeckīs own label, so itīs a good way to say "thanks" for his great work)

At Poke53280 there are some brand new Hurrican-Screenshots, from a Temple-Stage. They just started to do the final level-design and are coding the end-bosses.
(Release date of Hurrican may be early 2003)

Thanks to Robert Konrad for the Tip!
09.11.02

Do you think you are a Turrican Master ?
Show us what youīre made of: if you send me a shot of your Hurrican Preview Highscore (get one with F12), Iīll put your name in the highscore (at the right border-->).

Regarding to Martin Konrad, GameGear Turrican is still being developed, there may even be a new screenshot soon.
06.10.02
The Hurrican Demo is now available at Poke 53280īs Homepage !

Martin Konrad is also looking for a graphics-artist for a Turrican related GBA-Game. More infos at Turrican Forever. (I wonder what happened to his GameGear Turrican...?)

Also new: nemmelheim is now synSONIQ-Partner ! (Chris Hülsbeckīs Label, who e.g. publish the great Turrican Soundtrack)
01.10.02
Added (quite rare) 70 Turrican 2 PC Screenshots, thanks to Karsten Weiss of Pekaro !
Especially the later (alien) levels are pixeled very good and with a lot of love.
Redone the "other-systems"-page, hope you like it !
23.09.02
Yup. That was faster then I thought.
No big surprise, but interesting how few people prefer the Nintendo-Version(s).
The Question for this vote was: Which Turrican do you like the most ?
Turrican 1  23%
Turrican 2  67%
Turrican 3   4%
Super Turrican  2%
Super Turrican 2  4%
And the winner is: =Robert Konrad= with vote Nr. 100 - and he wins: a new vote ;>
And: expect the public release of the Hurrican-Demo soon !
23.09.02
Many new Bonusfiles, and added the complete Turrican 3 development-diary, including many pictures.
The Windstille projects is looking for a programmer, if you are interested contact them on their homepage.
After all this time, the great Turrican Forever-Page had itīs major update, the site is built dynamic now. But no new content so far.

And hey, now there are 97 votes - if we hit the 100, Iīll start a new one !
